Hazel and Silk – Wands and Scourges
Announcing our second talk in the series of 8 talks entirely dedicated to Wicca’s most famous collection of magical artefacts, once belonging to Doreen Valiente.
Since 2011, the Doreen Valiente Foundation has been committed to protect, preserve, study and curate Doreen Valiente’s collection of magical artefacts. After the successful exhibition “Where Witchcraft Lives” displayed in 2016 at Preston Manor (Brighton and Hove Museums), our new Doreen Valiente Collection Series features a series of talks dedicated to different topics and categories of objects from our collection.
This second talk “Hazel and Silk” is dedicated to two of the most important ritual tools within the original Gardnerian practice: wands and scourges. Doreen Valiente’s collection includes artefacts once belonging to Old Gerald himself! We will look at the different shapes and materials used to craft these objects, discussing their magical use and comparing them to other traditions and folklore around this type of objects.
Every talk from this series is FREE of charge for our existing BENEFACTORS (click promo code and add your membership number), if you are not a benefactor yet this is the right time to join us!
