Day for Gerald Gardner – September Update

Last one before the conference.

A couple of last minute changes to the programme, and that is we are very sorry to hear that Fred Lamond is not well enought to attend the conference. Our best wishes go to him we are thinking of you Fred. The good news is that he is writing a piece to be read out during the day. Chris Crowley the newly elected president of the Pagan Federation has stepped into the breach and we will hear his dulcet tones reading Fred’s words.

Where Witchcraft Lives – Book cover competition Results

We received many well thought out and professional designs and the choice was a really tough one. A closely run thing but eventually a winner emerged and he is Tony McLeod of Cornwall. He will be presented with his prize at the launch of the book which coincidentally is at the Day for Gerald Gardner on the 12th September 2010 at Conway Hall. Thanks to all who participated we are sorry we could not choose everyone!

ManxMill Caroline Wise, Our dear friend Caroline has kindly offered for us to display a unique letter written by Gerald to Ross Nicholls of the Druids. It is signed by hand ‘Gerald’ and has been authenticated. It is a funny letter, quite mischievious.
Also a beautiful post card of the Witches Mill, with a drawing of a naked witch in the tower with her broomstick, which was sent by John Symonds (Crowley biographer).
Where Witchcraft Lives Where Witchcraft Lives – Book Launch

More than any other request that we get concerning Doreen’s legacy is how to get hold of a copy of her first book – Where Witchcraft Lives – which has been long out of print. The original edition was limited to 1275 copies because she was a new and untested author. Now rare, original copies fetch high prices from collectors. One was recently sold on Ebay for over 1800 dollars. A friend said that her copy had been valued at 800 pounds. Having received so many requests for this book to be made more readily available this is exactly what we have done. We have printed a limited edition of only 1000 hardback copies and each copy is numbered individually so you have your own special copy. Please click here to go to the publishers page for details of how to purchase your own special numbered copy. This edition also includes photographs, many as a result of collaboration of Brighton Museum and the Sussex Archaeology Society. As a subscriber to the Centre For Pagan Studies newsletter we would like to offer you the opportunity to be among the first to purchase in advance your copy . Launch at the Day for Gerald Gardner Conference 2010 – The Centre For Pagan Studies presents a Limited Edition of Doreen Valientes very first book. Price £19.95 All profits from the sale of the book go to the Doreen Valiente Trust.
